Manga Arc: Chunin Exam
Drop out's hidden power! (Japanese: ????????!, - Ochikobore
no Sokojikara!) is episode 62 of the anime series Naruto.
The episode's storyline is from the Chunin Exam manga arc.
It details the conclusion between the Naruto and Neji fight.
[edit]
Plot
Neji is finished explaining the fate of the Hyuga branch house.
Even though Neji is extremely talented, he is doomed to the
fate that binds all branch family members. Neji accuses Naruto
that Naruto will never understand what it is like to have
a mark that cannot be erased.
Naruto responds that he understands what that is like perfectly,
but so what? Only cowards go blaming everything on fate. Naruto
then states that when Neji fought so hard against Hinata,
a main family member, he was actually fighting fate, just
like Naruto.
Naruto knows, even as he says this, that he is feeling no
chakra at all. He suddenly remembers Jiraiya telling him that
he has two different kinds of chakra, and Naruto realized
that his only hope now is to use the Kyubi's chakra. Naruto
concentrates on the familiar feeling of no chakra, and reaches
within himself, telling the fox to give him chakra.
Naruto feels that the fox has awakened, and tries to mold
chakra, but Neji says that it is pointless. Naruto still tries,
and Neji asks why Naruto tries so hard. Naruto responds that
it was because Neji called him a dropout. Suddenly, the fox's
chakra is awakened, and begins to open the tenketsu points
again. Chakra begins to leak out of Naruto once more, surprising
Neji. Neji uses the Byakugan, and sees an ungodly amount of
chakra. Naruto's injuries heal near instantaneously, and the
chakra is flowing out in a flashy display of orange. Neji
is unsure of what is happening, asking himself if what he
was seeing could possibly be chakra. However, all the adult
shinobi of Konoha know immediately that this is the Kyubi's
chakra, and they are astonished that Naruto has somehow learned
how to control it.
The chakra begins to wrap around Naruto, who tells Neji that
its time to begin. Naruto's speed has increased tremendously,
and Neji could barely keep up with Naruto. Finally, Naruto
charges head on, telling Neji that if Neji doesn't want to
do anything, Naruto himself will change the Hyuga's fate when
he becomes Hokage. Neji could tell that Naruto was charging
with too great of a force, and begins the Kaiten. When they
meet, a large explosion occurs, rocking the entire stadium.
When the dust clears, there are two large craters. Neji suddenly
climbs out of one, and sees an unconscious Naruto in the other
crater. Tenten remarks to herself that no Genin could defeat
Neji, but Naruto was amazing, and actually made Neji get serious.
Neji was about to give one last word about the unchanging
nature of fate, when suddenly, Naruto comes out from the ground
and gets a direct hit onto Neji's chin. Naruto had used a
Kage Bunshin to cover the tunnel he had dug to get underground,
which he used to get a surprise attack on Neji (ironiclly
the only direct hit he got throughout the fight). Depleted
of all his chakra, Neji is unable to stand up and continue
the fight. Neji comments he got careless against Naruto's
favorite technique but Naruto reveals that he failed the graduation
exam three times due to the exam being based on the technique
he was bad at: The Kage Bunshin which he just used to beat
Neji. Naruto then tells Neji to stop complaining about fate
as he not a dropout as Naruto is. Naruto is then declared
the winner of the match.
