Plot
Naruto and Gamabunta have transformed into the shape of Kyubi,
which grants Gamabunta greater agility as well as the use
of 9 tails. Gamabunta uses a few tails to grab a bunch of
trees, and leaps toward Shukaku. Shukaku uses Compressed Air
Jutsu to blast Gamabunta, who flings the trees at the giant
airball. This leaves Gamabunta free to land next to Shukaku,
and then uses his teeth and claws to grab hold of Shukaku.
Naruto then jumps up and punches Gaara hard, waking him up.
Though Shukaku's spirit is gone, Gaara is still there, with
a giant racoon of sand under him. Gaara tries to kill Naruto,
who is protected by Gamabunta's tongue. However, that won't
last long, as Gaara prepares Desert Coffin.
Both Naruto and Gamabunta's chakra are nearly depleted, so
neither could fight, and Gamabunta has to release Naruto from
his tongue. Naruto asks for just some chakra from Kyubi, and
gets enough to burst free from Desert Coffin, as well as unzip
his jacket. Naruto lunges toward Gaara, trying to punch him,
but Gaara uses his sand to restrain Naruto. Without the use
of his appendages, Naruto headbutts Gaara, hard enough to
crack the entire Tanuki form, which dissolves into sand.
Gamabunta wants to watch the end of the battle, but could
not because he is out of chakra, so Gamakichi and Gamabunta
leave. The sword, however, still remains, between Gaara and
Naruto, who are on tree tops.
Gaara and Naruto launch toward each other, both trying to
knock the other out with a punch, and Naruto succeeds. They
both land on the ground, Gaara unable to move. Naruto crawls
toward Gaara, to make sure Gaara is done. Gaara is scared
of Naruto, because he cannot believe the strength that Naruto
possesses, and because Gaara cannot understand Naruto. Naruto
then explains that like Gaara, he suffered a very unpleasant
past, but he now has people that he loves, people that he
will protect with his life. Gaara finally understands that
Naruto gets his strength from love, and wonders if he can
love.
The sand crushing Sakura dissolves, and Sasuke catches her,
leaving her to Pakkun. Sasuke then goes to Naruto, telling
Naruto that he won. With victory, Naruto passes out. Kankuro
was found by Temari, and the two of them arrive at Gaara's
side, ready to battle Sasuke. However, Gaara tells them to
stop, and they will leave. Partly out of habit for listening
to Gaara, and partly out of surprise at seeing Gaara at such
a weak state, Temari and Kankuro obey, going to return to
Sunagakure. En route, Gaara apologizes to his teammates.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru has lost the use of his arms, and realizes
that the invasion is finished. Escorted by the Sound four,
who stop the pursuing ANBU, they leave. Kabuto and Baki leave
as well, knowing that Orochimaru's departure could only mean
failure.
